This is a professional and courteous team. Gary helped my wife, the sellers and I understand the issues in the house we purchased, explained what he could do about them, provided quotes and stuck to the quotes even when the work was greater than what he expected (some things he couldn’t see). Every night the place was cleaned and swept (you could tell he takes pride in this) and he texted before he left so he could show us what he’d done and he texted in the morning before he arrived. His son has the same work ethic as his dad and I could tell this was a source of pride for Gary. And every person Gary brought (there was a substantial amount of hard labor hauling in and out concrete and rock) were courteous and professional and appreciative to be there. They are detailed oriented, there was no short-cutting anything, and he even came back to do some more sanding since the work was done but the concrete was still drying…this was after the check was paid. The permits were all completed and the inspectors easily approved the work. I would 100% recommend this team to anyone who asks.

“I highly, highly recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing! I’m so happy with their work. I bought a 1958 home that has always had issues with small leaks in the basement. At some point, a beaver system was installed. When Gary came out for the inspection, he explained how the system works and why it is failing. He also caught some bowing in one wall that I wasn’t aware of. He thoroughly explained all the possible options for fixing the leaks and the bowing wall. I decided on having all the inside plumbing redone, a new sump put in and steel I-beams installed for the bowing.
On the first day of work, I was impressed that Gary introduced me to the crew. I have never had a contractor do that before. Aiden, Isaac, Leo and Tim were all amazing. They are very hard workers, incredibly polite and knowledgeable in their work.
At the end of every work day, they made sure to get my basement as clean as possible before they left, which I did not expect, but really showed the dedication to their work. Gary kept me updated on the progress and what they were finding as they moved along. We were able to relocate the sump to a more convenient area for me, plumb it out of the house properly, the musty smell that has been a constant since I bought the house is gone and the new concrete looks great. Thank you for the amazing work!”

“Great experience every step of the way. The owner Gary came out to do our inspection and estimate, and he walked us through everything that the basement needed in preparation for them to do the waterproofing work. Once we got that done, Gary got us on the schedule within a week. He brought the same crew of workers every day, so everyone was familiar with our basement and exactly what needed to be done each day. They were very respectful of our home, hanging plastic to keep dust from spreading through the house. Every day, Gary would walk us through what they’d accomplished and what was coming up the next day. We did run in to one small change in the work and therefore pricing due to our city’s codes, which Gary clearly laid out for us before going ahead with the new plan. All in all we are very happy with Atlantic Coast’s work, customer service, and professionalism!”

September 2023 Testimonial

“Gary just pulled out of my driveway, after completion of my basement waterproofing job, and I felt compelled to take a moment before digging back into the mess of my storm ravaged home to sing his praises.

To begin with, Gary came out for a free estimate already familiar with my home because he took the time in advance to pull up the details (age, construction type, etc). He inspected and measured while we told him the issues we were having with our new-to-us home. He explained in great detail what exactly was happening, and what makes his approach to waterproofing different from the competitors. I will not deny that Gary knows how to sell his service, which I normally feel skeptical of, however this time, having some base knowledge of building and construction, I just genuinely felt he was an exceptional sales person because he knew his stuff. During our initial visit, he was patient, and took time to answer our many questions, and gave a lot of thoughtful insight on matters that were out of the scope of his job. And even after, when I called, texted and emailed before we even signed our contract, he responded promptly and with continued patience.

We felt strongly that Gary was the guy for our job after he came out to quote, but were concerned because, after doing our due diligence and having three other companies quote, his price was considerably higher – as he said it would be – during our first meeting. We knew for something this major, it was worth the investment, but we flat out struggled to find a way to pay for it, so the project was tabled until the water came bubbling up through the basement, as well as our next level up (half level up from basement, but still below grade) during the next big storm. We managed to pull some resources to get a deposit to get on Gary’s schedule, but we were afraid that we were going to be waterproofing two levels instead of one. In our panic, Gary could have easily doubled the size of this job, but when he came out to collect our deposit, he looked around the other affected level and told us that he believed that the water was from a different source and that he thought we should start with the basement and start investigating some other sources of the water on the other level. I had had another company out to quote at that time, that was ready to sell me the job of both the basement and the other level. I appreciated Gary’s honesty and willingness to sacrifice a bigger job to help us get to the real root of our issues. And thankfully our most recent storm confirmed exactly how the water was getting into that level, and Gary was correct that it was not the hydrostatic pressure issue that his waterproofing system fixes. We could have spent twice as much if he sold us the job and still had devastating flooding. Now we can dedicate those funds to addressing the real issue.

Once the work began, Gary and his crew were nothing but respectful and considerate. This is a beast of a project and there is no way to get through it without mess and discomfort, at least in our household, but they did everything they could to make it as painless as possible. They tried to leave everything as close to original condition as possible. I was expecting it to be so much worse than it was. Gary has an exceptional crew working for him. If you have to have a group of folks tear your house apart, these are the ones to do it. They really seemed to work as a well oiled machine.

Last night, after Gary and the crew had been at my house installing the system all week, we had a torrential storm. Our system was almost entirely in place, save for replacing the cement to cover the trenches. There was so much ground water from the rain that it literally sounded like a river flowing into our new sump that could be heard throughout our house, but the main section of the basement, where we previously had small geysers during less heavy rains, seemed to stay dry. Our other level experienced such significant flooding, that it really is a testament to how well Gary’s system works!”

Words can honestly not even begin to say how amazing Atlantic Coast Waterproofing is.

“We bought our house 2 years ago now and have had such a horrific experience with three leaks now in our basement that have caused a lot of damage. We had to completely gut our basement and needed a fresh start. We looked into waterproofing our basement so that we could feel so much better about the remodel and looked into three companies. We chose Atlantic Coast because from the second Gary came into our home, we knew we could trust him and his crew to help us out. We’ve always tried our best to support family owned businesses, and this just solidified why we do. Gary’s lovely wife helped us so much with our initial phone call and scheduling, Gary himself came out for our estimate and worked on our job (which you don’t see many owners doing that), and his super polite son getting his hands dirty with the hard work helping with the job with the rest of the amazing crew.

Gary explained so much in complete detail to us and made us feel at ease with choosing them as our company. Other companies had horrible reviews and could not answer some of the questions that I had regarding the job. Since this business has been in Gary’s family for so long, he knew every single answer to questions that I had and showed us so many examples of jobs.

When we officially hired them to do our job, his crew were here every single day on time and were so respectful of our home. They cleaned up after themselves and were all extremely polite and hard working. Anytime Gary was finished with anything, he would make sure to come get both my husband and I to explain everything he did in full which was so appreciated. Gary ordered every permit needed and passed both inspections with flying colors. They even had inspectors saying how amazing of a job they did and that it was an easy inspection. They completed our job on time and cleaned up everything so perfectly as if nothing even happened. We are so thankful to have hired Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to do our job and were honestly sad to see them go since they treated us like family.”

If anyone is looking to getting their basement waterproofed, please look no further, this is your company! You will not regret it at all!

I can’t say enough good things about Gary, who did this job as if it were his own house. Atlantic Coast did a complete basement waterproofing for us in 2009 and when we recently discovered a small amount of water seeping from a couple existing rod holes, Gary responded immediately and came back to resolve the issue, still covered under their warranty. While here, he also handled an unrelated sump pump issue for a very fair bill. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire this company for any future basement related water issues.

Testimonial 2023

Not long after buying my house that was built in the 1920’s, I noticed that I was having water intrusion in my basement when the water table was high from snow melt or heavy rain. The house did not have a sump pump or functioning water mitigation system so I began the search for a waterproofing company to help me understand my options. After spending a lot of time getting quotes and investigating various systems and company reviews I came across Atlantic Coast Waterproofing and decided to request a quote.

Gary came out to inspect the house and he gave me a very detailed explanation of why my house was having water issues and exactly how his system would be able to fix them. Gary patiently spent a lot of time answering every technical question I could come up with with great detail and the type of confidence that clearly comes from many years of hands on experience.

Gary was very reasonable to work with on finding a solution that fit my needs, timeline and budget. After agreeing on the details for my basement water mitigation solution, I decided to move forward with an Atlantic Coast system.

Gary was onsite everyday with his excellent team and got the system installed on time and as promised with limited impact to my time. I was very curious on the process and I asked many questions during the install and Gary & everyone on his team were very kind and willing to answer every question I had.

The system has been working exactly as expected and I would recommend Atlantic Coast to anyone looking to have their basement water issues addressed.

October 2022

Atlantic Coast did an excellent job. I would recommend them to anyone who has water problems in their basement. Gary, the owner, was at the job site everyday working alongside his employees. He kept me informed every step of the way and answered any questions I had. Iain, Barry, Isaac and Evan were professional, friendly and very courteous. When the job was done, they cleaned everything up better than the found it.

July 2022 Testimonial

Gary and his team did a great job waterproofing our entire basement. It was a big job and they did it in a very timely fashion. Gary, the owner, was on site everyday and working alongside his crew. They only take on one job at a time and were devoted to getting our project done in the time promised (actually earlier) and for the quoted amount. Atlantic Coast’s warranty is by far better than any other company we researched or talked to. We have a dry basement and couldn’t be happier! Thank you Gary and your entire team!

Testimonial August 2022

We have a relatively newer home in Howell and called several contractors to get estimates and provide information on how to fix the leaks and cracks in our basement. We met with a couple and when we met with Gary we hit the jackpot. To say this company is the very best contracting experience we have ever had is the understatement of the year. Gary and his entire crew – Barry, Ian, Evan, Leo, Gage and Raimundo – each and every one of them was absolutely spectacular. And we’re so thankful that a former member of his team, Colin, recommended him to us. From our very first meeting with Gary all the way through to the team effort that provided us with the finish product, we were blown away by the courtesy, professionalism and overall hard working crew. Not only have we permanently fixed the issue – but the work is guaranteed for life – regardless of who owns the home in the future. Our basement is in even better condition than the day we moved into the house.

After looking at the final product our family has been talking for days about the amazing job they did. I’ve dealt with people that have tried to go above and beyond when it comes to delivering a quality product – but that doesn’t even begin to cover how Gary and the guys outperformed every possible expectation we had. Without hesitation we recommend Atlantic Coast Basement Waterproofing and, if for any reason we ever need their services for a future home, they will be our first and only call without hesitation.

Atlantic Coast Waterproofing did a great job on our basement! We are out of state and the owner, Gary, kept us informed throughout the whole process. Gary was so professional and really went above and beyond. Even attempting to fix things that weren’t part of the job. There were no hidden fees and the job was done in the timeframe given to us. We really appreciate this company and would recommend them to anyone dealing with basement water issues.

Highly recommend Atlantic Coast! Gary was very thorough and informative right from the start. He kept us updated on progress everyday throughout the project. He and his crew are polite and professional. The job was finished on time and for the price agreed upon up front. Within a couple days of job completion we had melting snow and rain but we have a dry basement for the first time in years!

Testimonial December 2021

We recently purchased a 1925 lakefront home that had multiple water problems in the basement.
I met Gary on site and was so impressed with his enthusiasm, knowledge, and interest in helping us that I signed up with him that day.

His work at our home was completed timely, thoroughly and he continuously kept me posted with his progress. We are now enjoying a dry basement with a completely new interior perimeter drain system with two sump pumps.

I am a Michigan architect and have had my own practice over 43 years and cannot recommend Gary enough for anyone searching for help with basement water problems.

Thanks so much Gary

Testimonial August 2021

My house was built below the water table, so for 8 years I’ve been underwater. I finally had the money to get it waterproofed this summer. I interviewed several companies and Atlantic Coast Waterproofing gave by far the most detailed and thorough estimate. They took care of everything including cleaning out the basement for me and deep cleaning and sanitizing the basement when they were done. I found this company to be thorough, professional, reliable, and respectful of my house and property. I would highly recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.

Testimonial October 2021

I had water coming into my basement from my Egress window. I received several estimates from other companies. But Atlantic Coast won the job, first impression is everything, when I called I spoke to his wife, who was so polite and understanding. Gary came out and took his time explaining everything thoroughly , he showed me pictures of previous jobs that he had completed with issues like mine. His professionalism and kindness of him/staff was remarkable. He and his staff showed up every morning on time and completed the job in the timeframe that he stated. I highly recommend Atlantic Coast Basement Waterproofing INC.

I would very highly recommend this company!!! Very thorough explanation of everything that needs to be done, very friendly, polite and honest. The owner came to my home and could not have explained things any better. Basement repair is not a cheap expense and you definitely want to hire a good company and I believe this one is great! Someone could easily steer a homeowner in the wrong direction to make more money off of you, he treated me like he was repairing his own basement giving great advice!

Testimonial November 2021

We bought our house in the summer of 2017. When the snow thawed in the spring if 2018, we found our basement underwater. Once it dried out we took down the wood paneling from the walls and found years and years of water damage. (Which, kindly, wasn’t disclosed by the sellers) Like any homeowner, we got multiple quotes. Several companies offered a discount if we didn’t have permits pulled and said how they could get the job done MUCH faster if that were the case. RED FLAG!! Gary came out and explained how everything worked when our house was built in the 60’s and how the drainage can break down over time. He went over every step of the procedure and explained why it would take about 2 weeks with inspections while the other guys were promising 2-3 days at most. Do you want the job done fast or do you want it done right?!? While Atlantic Coast Waterproofing is not the cheapest, they are the best, and time after time Gary has stood by his word and work. Here we are in the Fall of 2021. We live in Howell, but if you live in any of the surrounding areas, you know that this has been the wettest summer ever. A couple months ago our basement flooded, absolutely no fault of the fantastic waterproofing job. It was due to the over 24 hour power outage and the amount of rain that came down. Well, this morning our sump pump stopped working, but because of the high quality pump that was used and 5 year warranty, Gary was out here within 1.5 hours of our call with a new sump pump in hand. My advice to you, is to get the battery backup when he explains it!
If I had to do it all over again I would choose Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. Every. Single. Time.
Please enjoy this picture of the water pouring out of my walls and the standing water in the trench during the waterproofing process in 2018.

Basement Waterproofing Job June 2021

We had Atlantic Coast Waterproofing install our basement waterproofing/drain system in 2013 and we have been completely satisfied with the results ever since. From the initial consultation meeting all the way through project completion, Gary and his team were very knowledgeable and professional. We had a few local companies provide us with cheaper quotes, but I’m so glad we chose Atlantic Coast. Outside of standard maintenance, we haven’t had to think about our basement waterproofing system once or had an issue with water in the basement since it was installed. You get what you pay for in this industry. Our neighbors decided to use a cheaper company for a similar project and, as a result, they still have ongoing water issues and plumbers visiting their house on a regular basis patching things up again and again. We sleep well with our Atlantic Coast system and encourage everyone to call Gary if you want the job done right the first time.

Basement Waterproofing Job April 2021

Working with Gary and his team was a great experience. It started with a very detailed discussion with Gary himself as to what the situation was with our basement; this was the consultation. What was very helpful were the pictures he showed us of what he would be doing in our basement so we had an expectation of the final outcome. The scheduling was easy, the crew showed up on time everyday and were very respectful of our home while there. Along the way, Gary showed us his findings, which validated concerns he voiced at the consultation, which gave further example to his expertise and knowledge on waterproofing in general as well as the age of our home and the symptoms he expected. I would highly recommend Gary and his team at Atlantic Coast.

Basement Waterproofing Job July 2021

Gary just finished a basement waterproof system for my sister Bonnie Weir. I have dealt with contractors before but never one as nice and co-operative as Gary was. No scare tactics or pressure. He not only was very friendly, but took the time to explain things as he went along. The final inspection of the job was excellent and would recommend him and his crew to anyone needing this service. Thanks

Basement Waterproofing job May 2021

After years of on and off trouble in our crawl space, I was over it! I called Atlantic Coast and the receptionist was very friendly and made me feel right at home with knowing I picked the right company to come take a look. I loved the fact that it was a free estimate and Gary, the owner was the one coming to give the estimate. Gary sat us down after showing us and walking us through everything that was taking place in the crawl space and gave us options on what we could do. It was obvious he wanted to help and not just looking for a paycheck! Gary and his crew were very professional and exceeded our expectations. Completion was done on time and clean up was amazing! Having our crawl space done properly gives us such a solid peace of mind. I would recommend Atlantic Coast Basement Waterproofing Inc to anyone who is looking for a fair price, a professional company and quality work! Thank you, Gary and crew for everything!

The most important thing I can say about Atlantic Coast Waterproofing is meet with all other foundation experts first, then call Gary. Why? INSPECTION 1. He pointed out that my basement floor overlaid the footer at different heights based on where you are in basement. –No other specialist pointed this out, this detail is very important 2. He was able to point out previous homeowners put in “home made” system –No other specialist pointed this out, this detail is very important 3. He was able to answer my questions about exterior of house that might need attention to maximize keeping basement as dry as possible, while working in parallel with interior system 4. Professional, respectful, straight forward PROPOSAL 1. Informative 2. Best warranty in the industry. 3. Cost came in similar to other proposals that would not have been effective solution for my situation INSTALLATION – BASICS 01. Anytime Gary ran into a home specific challenge he was able to overcome and offer different solutions to correct 03. Any silly question I had was happily answered 04. Walked me through progress daily 05. Was able to adapt to inspector asking for a different proposed sump pump solution, this was no problem 06. Was able to re-assure me that removal of old shower was best interest when he found sub-par installation and mold! 07. The work was super clean in basement 08. Trench was a good 14 inches wide, dug to bottom of footer, with 4 inch pipe installed 09. Gary made sure to test each weep hole very carefully and re-drilled any hole with questionable drainage or mortar clogs 09. Final gravel, pipe and cement installation was executed flawlessly 10. Permit inspector raved about the good job Gary and his team had done and he passed inspection with flying colors INSTALLATION – ABOVE AND BEYOND 01. There was questionable broken shower drain pipe, he just fixed it, no problem 02. While preparing area around sump pump Gary went the extra mile to investigate what could be another bad “home made” plumbing solution. Turns out the previous owner did not connect sump pump outlet to main sewer line, leaving a visible gap, and essentially allowing sewer gases to escape! Gary then switched gears, put on his plumber hat, and had multiple solutions to correct problem. There was a nominal cost associated with it, but I was MORE THAN HAPPY to pay for properly fixing a very bad plumbing situation. 03. Gary’s crew are also there to get it done right. When his crew arrived one member pointed out that cleanout to main sewer line was not up to code. This was not pressing concern, but once other plumbing problems were uncovered, they brought this up to code at cost of some new PVC pipe. Very nice. 04. Gary’s final cleanup surprised me, in a good way. After seeing first hand the unavoidable mess this type of work can cause, Gary humbly said they do their best with final clean up. Well, when we did final inspection, the basement and exterior never looked better. Nice.

The owner of the company came an hour and a half to my he to give me a FREE INSPECTION! He wasn’t a high pressure salesman, and he spent an hour and a half explaining to me EVERYTHING that could be wrong. Although at this time a system is not needed, he didn’t try to scare me into a purchase. This is a company that has integrity! If I EVER need a waterproofing system, this is the company I would hire hands down!

Testimonial June 2019

Contacted this company on June 15th with a chronic leak in the basement. the owner (Gary) came out to give a free estimate, arrived promptly, did a thorough examination of the problem, identified the issues, and presented us with a very well organized explanation of our specific basement problem. In these moments of the appointment, we were impressed with his knowledge and comprehension of not just the issues, but gave us choices on the remedies. He presented samples of the materials he uses to perform the work, and explained exactly how things would be done. We also felt that he gave us a reasonable estimate and we chose the least expensive option to remedy the issues. Once we decided to move ahead with this company, Gary organized the work and scheduled us for prompt service. His team Phil, Cody, and Casey arrived at the appointed date to prep the work areas. This was a pleasant experience because they showed interest and care in how I wanted my belongings to be handled. They included me on how organization and trouble-shooting so that they could do a good quality job in the expected time window of three days. Indeed, this is what happened. Not only did this team of men handle this work, and all of their duties, with utmost care and kindness, they were also quite personable and enjoyable to have on this basement job. They were all very neat, respectful, clean, courteous, and mindful of our daily activities. In earnest, this was a fine quality experience from the start, and it left us with feeling like a valued family…not just a customer. The work? It is excellent! We were invited to inspect the process along the way and the team would explain what was being done as they worked. On day two there was a slight snafu with the original set up of the pipelines when the house was built, and it threatened to delay job completion by a day. That didn’t happen though, because the team was able to address the pipe issue satisfactorily without additional deconstruction needed. The cement work was neatly done and back filled; mold that had begun to accumulate was eradicated, and the work areas were nicely cleaned up. Additionally, the extra day was not necessary. The work was completed in predicted time and is a fine quality level of work. I highly recommend Gary and his team. I found them to be honest, trustworthy, personable, friendly, helpful, resourceful, experienced, and knowledgeable. Full 5+ stars on this business.

Gary was great! Very informative and knowledgeable. Actually, recommended given our job that we persue a different approach than what they offered. Very honest. Would highly recommend

Testimonial November 2017

My husband and I recently purchased a new home. A few weeks after moving into the home at the request of the home inspector. The inspector suggested having a waterproofing company repair some of the “rod holes” from prior water damage. We decided to have a couple of companies come out to give us some quotes. We felt that Gary of Atlantic Coast Waterproofing was the man for the job. Gary explained where and what created the damage and what needed to be done to correct the problem. He explained the different options that were available to us to manage or fix the problems. He pointed out where mold was in different areas of the basement and that repairing the rod holes would only temporary fix the problem.

Gary was very thorough and explained what was going to be done. What the day would consist of and what his crew would be doing each day. He then explained what to expect for the duration to repair the problems. Gary worked on the job with his crew each day. They were very punctual through the job and cleaned up every work day making themselves accessible to answer any questions that we had.

A great experience and a job an excellent job.

Testimonial Fenton, MI Feb 2018

Had a great experience with Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. Gary made it easy to understand what was happening. He gave us a few options and explained all the pros and cons for each.

We made our decision and he came out with his crew. They were polite, professional and efficient. Their demo work was amazingly clean and precise in our finished basement. They also cleaned up after their work better than any contractor I’ve seen.

After exposing the walls, we found that someone had attempted a fix previously, but failed. I am confident that the leaky basement will no longer be an issue. Remember, you pay for what you get!

For any basement waterproofing I would highly recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.

Testimonial Linden, MI April 2018

Atlantic Coast Waterproofing just completed an inside drainage system in my lower level basement walkout. My wife and I could not be more pleased with the outcome and the total process.

Initially, Gary inspected the outside and inside area, set down with us to explain and diagram what our problem was and the options we had to correct and eliminate this problem.

Throughout the length of the job Gary and his team were always very knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient. They kept us informed, their cleanup was more than I expected and their price was very reasonable.

I would highly recommend Gary and his team at Atlantic Coast Waterproofing for any of your waterproofing needs

After another Basement Waterproofing company left me with severe damage, to the outside of my home, with a larger leak than to start with, a friend recommended Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. Gary Lustig and his crew were complete in explaining the newest methods of exterior waterproofing while waterproofing my foundation. A new sump pump system and buried discharge line were added to this job, I now have a clean and dry basement!

Thank You Atlantic Coast Waterproofing!

Testimonial June, 2016

My wife and I had Atlantic Coast Waterproofing come out last summer to waterproof our basement and we are thrilled with the service they provide. Our basement was continually getting worse with flooding. In the fall and spring we would have to shop vac anytime we got rain because the water would flow in above our ankles. In the winter any thaw we got we would get water in our basement. We have now been through a rainy fall and a winter were we have seen a crazy amount of weather change and we are bone dry. I have a dehumidifier running just in case and we only have to dump the water out maybe once a month instead of every other day. The system they put in I recommended to anyone. People may want to compare their price with other companies but it is hard to do because even though they may be a bit more expensive but what you get is 3x or more extensive then the other companies. They give you a life time warranty with no fine print! I want to emphasize that part “no fine print”. They stand behind their work. The owner of the company is on site working with the crew so no corners are cut. They give you the correct solution not just a band aid like the other guys. When they are finished for the day they will walk you through what they did and make sure you are familiar with the process. I loved the fact that the owner took the time to educate me on the system he was putting in and on every part of the process. I can’t say enough about Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. If you want peace of mind then they are the company to use. I recommend them to everyone and I would offer to show people my basement if people wanted to see for themselves before committing. You get what you pay for but in their case you actually get more than you pay for.

I was very impressed from start to finish with Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. When I first talked with Gary, he thoroughly presented the interior drainage system and explained in detail how the job would be handled. He and his crew worked hard and efficiently and completed the job a day early. I am so relieved that I now have a dry basement. This investment in my home, which has a lifetime, transferable guarantee has given me peace of mind because I know my foundation and basement are safe and sound. Thanks!

Testimonial Royal Oak, MI May 2018

I have a 1952 built home in Royal Oak that I have lived in for about 4 years. I have had minimal water issues over the years, however this year was different. In late February there was a ton of snow and the temps rose to about 60 degrees and melted everything. It then proceeded to rain for numerous days. The water table under my home rose and created hydro static pressure causing water to flow through the seams in my poured foundation. My wife and I tried a few cheaper fixes and even had a company come in and inject our floors to try to stop the water. This was just a waste of money. After about a month of the water not stopping I got in touch with Gary at Atlantic Coast. Gary responded right away and I had an appointment within a day. I had about 3 other waterproofers lined up with quotes, however I gave my business to Gary without even hearing from the others. Gary is the definition of a Waterproofing Pro. He was honest, respectful and there was no doubt he knew pretty much everything there is to know about how water gets into homes and how to stop it! Gary walked me through exactly what was happening under my house with the water table and the water pressure. He then walked me through the solution which included a 100% lifetime guarantee of no water coming through the walls and floors which is fully transferable. Gary installed a an interior drainage system connected to a sump pump which pumps water away from the house. It has been about a month since completion and I have had no water issues. Working with Gary was great! He communicated with me throughout the entire process and did a great job. Right away Gary built trust with me. I could tell he was passionate about his craft and truly cared about solving my problem for good! He offers a 100% guarantee because his process works!

Testimonial Waterford, MI June 2018

Gary and his men ran into a few challenges with our 100 year old house but overall handled them professionally – explaining each step, what was found and what was to be done. There was a hiccup that caused some grief, but Gary took responsibility. He also provided us with a superior product to the one quoted when the crew found that the standard materials might not be the best choice and for that we are very appreciative. The work looks great and the big rains lately have proven the quality of the work.

Testimonial Brighton, MI. June 2018

Our basement had water coming in between the walls and the floor after the winter thaw and subsequent heavy rains in the spring, despite having 2 sump pumps in one well and adding gutters and downspouts to the house last year. While waiting for a basement waterproofer we knew from our last home, we checked Angie’s list and were impressed by the great reviews received about this company. We called, and the owner, Gary, came out that day to assess our situation, explain why were were getting the water, and recommend a plan to correct the problem. His knowledge of water management, his experience, his explanations, and the lifetime unconditional guarantee, convinced us that he was the right one to hire. The job was a very big job, and it took Gary and his crew 9 days working 8 hours a day to complete it, but they were all prompt, hardworking, professional, and knowledgeable, plus they all seemed to enjoy their job and take pride in their work. We often went downstairs to observe and ask questions, and Gary took the time to answer all our questions, as well as to explain in detail the various stages of the job as they were doing it. Because Gary was there on the job every day all day, the specifics of the internal drainage system was determined after all the trenching was done and they could see the best way for the water to flow. With a job like this, I would beware of a contractor that decides everything at the onset and is not there on the job, because flexibility seems to be important in getting the best outcome. In the end, although we would have preferred not to have needed to have this job done at all, we know that we made the right decision for a permanent solution, and we have complete confidence that this will solve our water problem. Thanks Gary and his crew!

Gary called right away and came out right away to give me a free quote. He let me know of his and his families experience over the years since he’s been in his profession and walked me through the issues with my foundation. We set a date for him to come out and he came out ahead of time and finished the job before the completion date. There is no water in the basement any more! I recommend him to everyone!

Testimonial Franklin, MI 2018

We had water leaking into the basement after a heavy rain and snow melt in February. We called 3 companies for estimates. We were most impressed with Gary Lustig, his background and experience and his Angie’s list reviews. He was able to start the job sooner than the others and we are very glad we hired him. The job went really well. Gary explained everything, step by step, as he was completing the job. He was very thorough, paying attention to every detail and giving us lots of insight as to why we needed this work performed in the first place. His crew worked hard, were very polite, neat and professional. They also did a great job cleaning up after each work day.

Testimonial February 2018

Atlantic Coast may not be the cheapest company but their work is outstanding. They were friendly, communicated what would be happening in my basement, and even took me downstairs to show me the work that they had done. I would definitely hire them again.

Testimonial February 2018

We don’t hesitate to recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. We had a very specialized drainage issue in our tight crawl space that involved intense labor. Gary and his team worked both relentlessly and efficiently while also taking the time to clearly explain each step of the process. We never felt intimidated to ask a question and felt comfortable with his extensive waterproofing knowledge. Due to the special nature of our project, Gary also had to work closely with other contractors and did so with the utmost expertise and professionalism. If you want your job done properly and with integrity, hire Atlantic Coast.

Testimonial 2017 Waterford, MI

I called Gary because of his high reviews. He got back with me quickly, and was able to come check our basement out right away. Some companies wouldn’t even give me an estimate for almost 2 weeks! Gary was prompt, polite, friendly. He explained our issues in great detail. We had no idea what we were doing, and Gary taught us so much! He was able to come do the job right away. The team of guys were fantastic. Gary was here every day, leading the pack. The job took exactly as long as what he said. It cost exactly what we were quoted. The work site was super clean and tidy. We thought we had moved our belongings out of the way and they weren’t quite. But the crew moved our stuff out of the way, covered it up so it wouldn’t get all dusty. The city plumbing inspector and the building inspector commented on how clean the jobsite was, and how this was by far the BEST waterproofing job they had ever seen. I had such a great experience with Gary, I wish I had another basement for him to fix. We will definitely recommend Atlantic Coast to anybody looking. Very pleased we made this investment. UPDATE 4-19-17 The city plumbing inspector had to come back and inspect an unrelated issue to Garys work. This was about 5 days after Gary finished the job. The inspector mentioned SEVERAL times during this unrelated inspection how great again the work Gary did was. I told him I would gladly recommend Atlantic Coast to anybody!

Testimonial 2017 Novi, MI

Every one of the rod holes were drilled out and sealed. The cement was removed about 15 inches from the wall and a trench about 15 inches deep was dug. A large black plastic type pipe was laid on top of a bed of stones, then stones on top of that. A plastic type of dimpled sheet was placed on top and was turned at 90 degrees to go up the wall a couple of inches. Then the entire trench was covered in cement as thick as the rest of the existing floor. Also installed were 5 inch I beams floor to ceiling along the wall that was cracked. Panels were installed over the cracked walls. A wonderful feature is that there are large about 4 inch clean outs installed on each wall which will allow the entire system to be flushed with water into the black buried pipe flowing into the new sump pump that was installed. See photos. The basement is dry and fresh and looks great. We would choose Atlantic Coast Waterproofing again. The owner Gary was there for the entire job, start to finish. It has rained heavily since the job was completed. Absolutely no water has gotten into the basement. What is very important is that the job comes with a lifetime guarantee that covers fixing everything that results in water on the floor. Water from the walls, cracks, rod holes or even through the floor that results in water on the floor will be fixed free. It is also 100% transferable to new owners.

We are so thrilled with the work that Gary and his crew did for us! Very professional and kept the work area impressively clean! The finished product is exactly what we had hoped for. While working on our water management in our NOW very dry and non-leaky basement, he managed to educate us on the problems we had and how he was solving them! We already have friends asking for his number! Thank you for allowing us to feel comfortable finally finishing our basement!

Professional from the moment we met with Gary to discuss the project, through its completion. Crew was hard-working, pleasant and clean. Daily review of the work performed/progress made. Complicated project with excellent results. Highly recommend this company. 5 stars. Google review.

Mrs. C. Farmington May 2016

Installed drain tile and sump pump inside basement.
Let me start by saying my husband and I are new to Michigan and come from a part of the country where sump pumps do not exist. As such we were very wary of them and getting us to agree to one was not a small feat, even being freshly exposed to the importance of them after finding the water in the basement.
Gary and his crew were very pleasant to work with. He was patient with me during the consult as I asked a million questions and it was late by the time he left and I know he had been on another job all day. He is very knowledgeable and explained thoroughly all the differences between the setup he was recommending and what all his competitors had recommended/sold. In the end he was not the lowest cost bid, but I liked his professionalism, the fact that he would be the one doing the work, and his system seemed the most logical to us. I think his work was well worth the price paid.
The week they came out was the coldest week in November, temperatures never got about 20 F I believe. He insisted on doing the work and did a surprisingly good job at keeping the house warm despite having the heat off for the first two days to limit the dust. He went above and beyond when our furnace wouldn’t turn on after the second day because of the jack hammering. The problem with the furnace was by no means a fault of Gary and his crew, but he still did everything he could to try to fix it before the repair man arrived. It turns out a wire in the furnace switch was loose and the jack hammering moved it just enough so it lost contact. Again, not at all Gary’s fault. He and his crew were very friendly and every time I came down he would explain what they were doing, what they had found, and where they were going. I really liked that he was so friendly and approachable while working. He really wants to make sure his customers understand what is going on with their house.
My only negative observation was the mess left behind. I had read the reviews, and even talked with him at length about it before they started. I feel they did their best given the terrible outdoor weather, but it still left me a little disappointed. The dust was not the problem for me, I thought they did very good keeping it down. My problem was some messes left around the house. This really isn’t a big deal for me and for the most part, I was able to clean them up once I found them, which was weeks later so I didn’t feel it necessary to call and tell Gary. Though I am sure if I had, he would have been out ASAP to make it right.
Overall, Gary and his crew did a great job. I have no hesitations to recommend them to anyone. Gary will be honest with you and will go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with his work. He will try to accommodate any special requests you have and give you as much information as you would like. I think his company is a special find in today’s contractor landscape.

Mr. D. Fenton June 2016

Overall: |Gary Lustig at Atlantic Coast Waterproofing was able to identify what was wrong with our basement, was able to fix it quickly, and did it for a reasonable price. I am pleased with the work he did, how his team did it, and would whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone with problems of water coming into their house. | |During the fall rains of 2014, I had to fill a 16 gallon shop vac 2 times every 2-4 hours ALL DAY/NIGHT LONG till the rain stopped in order to dry my floor. After ACW replaced my interior drain tile, I have not had ANY water in my basement, NONE. No water came in during the winter thaw or during Spring thunder storms that flooded my yard. In 2014, I had water coming in during the whole Spring season, but not any more! | |Quality: |ACW, Inc installed a new drain tile under my basement floor. From the size of the tile, to the size of the aggregate they put under, around and on top of the tile to the 2 “clean-out” access ports to clean out the tile, to the plastic barrier placed between the aggregate/tile and the new concrete floor, all of the materials were top quality. They didn’t cut costs on materials. | |They did many things to ensure that this was a quality job. They tarped off the basement to keep this messy job’s debris to a minimum. After breaking open the floor and removing the old, failed tile, they dug an even larger trench in order to accommodate all of the extra, large aggregate they placed around the new tile to ensure proper water flow without clogging the tile with dirt. They drilled holes into the block foundation walls to drain the water from inside the walls. They sanitized the walls and floors to eliminate mold (6 months later there is still NO mold). They reinstalled new concrete that looks nice in my basement. | |Punctuality |Gary arrived early for his visit to examine our problems and quote a solution, and he stayed for more than an hour to answer all of our questions. Gary and his crew arrived each day at exactly the designated start time or early. They worked a full day and didn’t leave each day till they had put in over 8 hours of work. | |Price |Gary saw the urgency of our water problem and was very competitive in his pricing. Some people might have taken advantage of our urgent situation, not ACW. | |Responsiveness |My wife has significant allergies, and Gary “bent over backwards” to accommodate her needs, to minimize dust, and only use chemicals that would not bother her. Gary also brought us downstairs multiple times each day to explain each step so that we were comfortable with what they were doing. | |Professionalism |They were timely, polite, courteous of noise and dirt when passing through our house to the basement. This is an EXTREMELY messy procedure, and they worked very hard to contain it. While their power tools were very loud (as expected) the workers were very quiet and respectful of my family that was home during the day.

Mr. B. Troy, MI 2016

  1. Waterproofed whole basement
  2. Repaired all rod holes
  3. Installed floor drain system
  4. Installed wall ventilation system
  5. Disinfected basement walls
  6. Installed barrier system over cracks
  7. Added additional sump pit and pump

Installed battery back-up sum pump

Everything went great!  I’ve had a wet basement since 1997.  When I go in the basement now, everything is different.  It feels and smells dryer.

The solution that Atlantic Coast used was much more comprehensive and less expensive than the solutions offered by the other companies that gave me estimates.

Mrs. C. Warren, MI 2016

An inspection was made inside the house for any cracks in the walls that would indicate foundation shifting. All the outside foundation was examined for any apparent damage. He crawled under the house and examined the foundation, ground, pipes in the area and the understructure of the house.

After the inspection I was given an explanation of the status and what was needed in the way of ongoing maintenance, waterproofing and possible future needs. He found a problem related to leakage from a construction project a few years ago. He advised me of the damage and suggestions on what might be needed to repair it.
When finished I  was given a quotation for waterproofing of the area.
He was not pushy nor did he talk down to me as a female.

Jan 2016 Wolverine Lake, MI

Very professional.  Seemed like quality work.
Crack in basement wall was covered by a sheathing.  Part of the floor was jackhammered out and re-cemented over tiling.  Any water that now comes through the wall flows down into the tiling and into the drain tiles under the floor.  Representative also noticed that our sump pump was not working, so we had it replaced.

Ms. S Bloomfield Twp, MI Dec 2015

Let’s face it, when you contact a waterproofing company it is usually in an emergency situation. You may have already experienced devastation, damage or loss of property. You anticipate a painful process and costly endeavor. To further complicate matters one may question the integrity and longevity of a prospective company. Case in point, my home was waterproofed 12 years ago by the previous homeowner but the company dissolved and the lifetime warranty was worthless, as was the workmanship. To complicate matters further, my employment status had recently changed and I needed to correct the problem and sell my home-immediately.

I met with several companies and collected bids. Atlantic Coast Waterproofing’s professionalism, credentials and impressive history were evident from the initial conversation. Gary took the time to outline the situation in great detail and presented a viable solution. The entire team demonstrated a strong work ethic and approached the project with integrity. They were respectful towards me and my home, industrious with their time, provided multiple status updates and completed the project according to the time line without deviation from the projected cost. Overall, I was thrilled with their performance and the end result! I would highly recommend their company and services in the future.

Thank you Gary and Atlantic Coast Waterproofing!

Sincerely,

Ms. S.

Ms R. Wolverine Lake, MI Dec 2015

He was wonderful, had the lowest bid and then even gave me the bigger pipe for the same low cost.  They got it done in less than a day, I was very satisfied.

Mrs. C. Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304

Basement waterproofing. Gary came out and inspected our basement moisture/leak problem. He spent 3 hours talking with my husband and me, inspecting the job inside and out and making sure we understood what needed to be done. He explained in detail with photos and video of his work. The guarantee was far and above any other company that we interviewed. He was willing to pull all the necessary permits that some other companies weren’t going to do.

Gary and his crew started on the day he said he would. They were on time and worked continuously breaking only for lunch. Gary worked along side his crew and there was never a harsh word between them. They were professional, kind and considerate. I have never felt so comfortable with workers in my home. The job itself is messy but they did everything they could to keep the dust and dirt from migrating to other parts of my house using tarps. During the day and at the end of the day’s work, Gary showed me the work they did and explained everything. He also said we could call him any time if we had questions. They did a great job and I have not had any leaks. If you need this type of work done, look no further! You won’t find a company with the integrity and professionalism of ACW or one that knows how to get the job done!

Mrs. C. Lake Orion Sept 2015

Very thorough inspection of the whole house, outside, and inside on complete basement and crawl space. He explained everything in detail from the way houses are built..the foundations, material of that time and changes now. The inspections, codes, and types of equipment such as the sump pump in it’s efficiency, have changed through the years.
Member Comments:

He first mentioned that he is not a salesman on a commission and owns the business with over 30 thirty years experience..plus being around his father in the business and learning as a child.

His knowledge was very evident, even to a clueless woman, such as I. I did have my daughter and a contractor/builder friend with much experience come to be there for his report and recommendations, which he completely supported and was glad to wait for them to get here and add questions or comments that I may not think of. He walked the contractor back over the basements and exterior showing him what he had found and his suggestions for remedies.

I am taking many of his suggestions today as far as a second dehumidifier and longer extensions put on the downspouts. I will be conferring with my relatives and contractor friend as to what I will do now and what to do in the spring. I also may be having the mold tested to see the type and dangers before deciding on my timing.

But…I am completely satisfied with the quality of knowledge and professionalism of the company and highly recommend them.

I had several friends say…why would you pay Angie’s List $49.95 for the recommendation, as.all estimates should be free. My answer is this was much more than an estimate by a probable salesman..It was an inspection and about a two hour education.

I can’t speak on his pricing estimates, as I am not completely educated yet on quality pricing, and what I will be doing at this time, but I can speak on his integrity and honesty. There was a section that had some wet wood on flooring overhead and he said he could recommend someone he felt confident in..but he would not be the person for that job. His knowledge of expertise is underground. He did voice his opinion and ideas for me on it though. He went through the crawl space also. Outside he even gave opinions on the gutters, downspouts and soffits to prevent drainage into the foundation. I will not hesitate to call him for the work as soon as I am ready.

Atlantic Coast is an A+++++ contractor. They were the most courteous, knowledgeable and willing to list to their customer we have EVER dealt with. The crew he hired was a true example of Gary’s(owner) business ethics. His wife presented a true concern regarding the client while on the phone. As you can comprehend by the summary-it was a very great experience. The final product was beyond our expectations.

Ms. G. Birmingham, MI 48009 July 2014

Atlantic Coast installed a full interior drain in my 90 year old basement.
The crew dug a trench approximately 12″ wide and 12″inches deep around the full perimeter of my basement.  The trench was filled with stone and a perforated drain pipe feeding a new sump pump.  A drain hole was added to each cavity of each foundation block.  Our old house has a very thin floor and the footing and floor slab are at the same level.  So instead of covering the trench with concrete flush to the floor, Gary and crew  covered the trench with a 3″ high curb.
Member Comments:
The work took 1 week.  They showed up when they said they would.  Communication was excellent.  Gary, the owner of the company was on site working along side his crew every day of the job.  All quoted work was completed and then some.   Gary  added about 10 feet of trench not included in the original scope of work because he felt the system would perform better.  They dug under stairs, around corners and behind my boiler.
Some other basement waterproofing contractors we spoke with do  not pull permits.   We are very happy that this job was permitted and the cost of all permits was included in the quote.  During our excavation our water main developed a leak.  Gary’s relationship with the city and with his plumber meant the damage was repaired the same day.
Atlantic Coast competes with large sales organizations.  I recommend that you consider this honest hardworking company where your job will have the full attention of the owner of the company.

Mr. E. Grandblanc, MI 48439 June 2014

The owner Gary came out and explained the whole process which included pictures in detail how it all worked.  Gary was extremely polite and answered all our concerns and questions.  He also provided his license, insurance ect for our review.
Gary’s company did all the work in the time they said they would.  They cleaned up and we are very satisfied with the quality of service we received. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.  Great Guy!  Great Company!

Ms. H. Flushing, MI 48433 February 2014

He gave me a lot of information over the phone about this product and others on the market with the pros and cons.
He arrived at the house and explained the work and gave us an estimate. We decided to have the work done and an appointment was set up.
He arrived promptly, did the work in the estimated amount of time and then explained the system.
The only part I did not really like was that now if our regular pump fails, we probably would not be able to replace it ourselves, because the two pumps are combined. However, as we get older, we might not be able to do this type of work in the future, anyhow.  At least we have the back up pump if ours does fail and we would have some time to deal with getting a new one installed.

Mr. A. Shelby Township, MI 48317 November 2013

After moving into a new home and discovering that a faulty waterproofing system was leading to a buildup of mildew, and fungus in our basement, we were referred to Atlantic Coast Waterproofing Company by a family friend.  The owner, Gary, came out for the initial onsite consultation, and we were quickly impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of the industry that he brought to the table.  After a thorough analysis of the issues and recommended steps, we agreed on a fair price for the extensive work that needed to be done to correct the issue.
Gary and his crew quickly got to work on pulling the permits necessary for the work do be done on our behalf and started the job less than a month later.  The expected completion time that was quoted was 7-10 business days, and even with uncontrollable surprises and challenges along the way, they were completely wrapped up and finished by the 10th business day.  Over the span of just a few days, the team of 3-5 individuals lugged counttless buckets of heavy stone, cement, debris, and gravel up and down the stairs.  The amount of heavy duty equipment coming in and out of our basement throughout the two weeks was amazing and the team worked hard to leave our house in a clean, organized, and functional manner when it was all said and done.  Since the work was completed, we no longer have to worry about the safety of our family living in a house with mildew in the basement and a faulty waterproofing system.
Overall, Atlantic Coast Waterproofing offers a well-managed crew led by a reputable and knowledge owner.  They will keep you informed every step of the way before, during, and after the work is complete.  I would use the company again in the future and would recommend them to others as well.

Gary and his crew did an excellent job from start to finish.  We felt very confident in hiring Gary (over the competition).  Gary’s father started the business many years ago and he was able to learn the trade at a very early age.  Gary is now the owner and operator of the business and he takes great pride in his workmanship.  He was on-site performing the work each day-
We chose not to share our personal information in regard to cost of service.    We felt that we received “value” in the quality of work that was performed and that no short-cuts were taken.
It was a big job and we are happy with the results.  We would hire him again!

An excellent job was provided by Atlantic Coast Waterproofing, from the quoting and estimating process right through to completion.  Gary’s crew who came to the house were very professional, polite, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be around.
Gary went out of his way to take the time to assist my wife with understanding the complete task of the job at hand.  Gary kept us informed of the project details with status updates, schedule planning, and participated in conversations regarding our project and offered suggestions based on past experiences.
Gary also has a strong network of support from other contractors who work along with him.  All of these individuals were equally as professional as Gary and his crew.  They show great friendship and the ability to work side by side without any issues.
Definitely good money spent.

Select:  Angie’s List really helped me in my selection of who to to invite to my house to provide a proposal.  I looked for honesty, quality, price, meeting commitments, and willingness to work with me.
Sales call:  Gary, owner of company, met my expectations of what I was looking for and in line with other reviews.  What really stands out is taking care of what is causing the problem, not just selling another product.  Gary is the only one that offered suggestions to address a problem that he did not make any money on.  He was willing to spend the time to make sure I understood the process and proposal.
Cost:  I am not providing details because I feel the information is misleading depending on everything being done.  I can tell you each contractor’s proposal was based upon linear feet, which my house had a large basement perimeter.  I am very concerned with making sure I get the best value and trust that the contractor will deliver as promised.  I selected Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.
Homeowner prep:  This was totally my responsibility and it took a lot of time and effort.
The processes was the same for all contractors I got proposals from.  I believe Gary was the most realistic on space needed and dealing with obstacles.  Gary also was really good to work with

We hired Atlantic to water proof our basement. I really appreciated Gary’s candor. He could have tried to up-sell us on structural changes like the other companies we called. We thought we had issues with needing our foundation leveled. The other companies just offered multiple (very expensive) under-pinning products. But Gary showed us out multiple points of evidence that our foundation was not the issue. Except of course for the pools of water we were planning to fix ourselves (some day).
Member Comments:
I am soooooooooo glad we didn’t take this on ourselves. After watching a full crew of guys slaving away in a pit surrounding our house for 2 weeks, I realized that we do not really want to dig out, power wash or concrete our field stone basement. Nor do we want to tar muck the exterior of the basement. If it took them two weeks, we wouldn’t have finished the same year we started. There just isn’t time if you work full time. So not a weekend project.
Furthermore, I probably wouldn’t have even hired a different company to do this. But these guys are real professionals. They sat down and explained the full process, checked in with us at the end of every day to discuss the progress, and showed up early every day (including Saturdays) and didn’t leave til the job was done. These guys don’t work multiple jobs while they’re doing your project. You get their full attention. On top of it, they are politer than polite! When they came in the house for sump pump work, they even took their boots off for us, without being asked. They cleaned up after themselves, put our yard back in together, removed a bush for us that we otherwise were even planning to pay someone to remove. All the bonuses really made it extra worth it. On top of that, we have a guarantee that will pass on when we sell the house. There were things they could have cut costs on, but they didn’t. They really know their stuff, and it’s their business to do it right.
Bottom line? These guys really want to be employed. They want your business, they want to be working for you. It’s evident in the way they’ll treat you and your house.
Do it, your basement walls will thank you. For real, Atlantic is the way to go.

Mr. G. Novi, MI 48375 November 2012

Gary came out promptly to provide an estimate.  The estimate alone took 2 hours as the walls are covered with drywall, so he need to remove a portion of the drywall to locate the problem.  Once identified, he explained the problem and ways to prevent additional problems going forward (such as re-routing my downspouts outside).  He also inspected the rest of the basement to see if there were other issues.  He explained my repair options and the pros and cons of each.  Once I chose him to complete the work, they were able to come the next day to complete the repair, re-rout my downspouts, and also replace my old sump pump.  Overall, very happy with the service.

Ms. H. Clawson, MI 48017 September, 2012

Gary conducted a thorough evaluation of my leaky basement, and provided a detailed description of the options available to me. We agreed on a plan, which involved cutting and removing a strip of concrete from the perimeter of the basement floor, removing old drain tile, installing a drainage system in the excavated trench, installing a sump pump, and pouring new concrete.  In addition, a short flight of stairs had to be rebuilt, and an ancient concrete laundry tub broken up and removed. Gary’s crew also patched a below-grade crack on the outside of the basement wall.

From initial contact to completion of the job, I was pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. At the end of each day, Gary explained what had been accomplished — and what he planned to do the next day. When my ancient basement provided some unforeseen challenges, Gary made sure I was aware of the situation, and presented me with my options before proceeding. The job took a day or two longer than expected — at no additional cost to me. I appreciated the thoroughness of the crew — as well as their professional demeanor, tidiness, and careful attention to detail.

Mr. M. Clarkston, MI 48348 July 2012

Very professional from start to finish. Everything was done on time as specified. The work was excellent, and my basement does not leak.

Mr. K. Royal Oak, MI 48067 December 2011

These days it is hard to find a good contractor whose main objective is quality work and doing the job properly. I heard about Atlantic Coast Waterproofing through a referral from a co-worker. After researching their website I decided to give them a call. Gary came out and spent 4 hours at my house looking over my entire exterior and interior. I had originally thought I had a problem along 2 walls, but as Gary probed further he pointed out I had water issues on all four walls, including one which was previously waterproofed from the exterior. Gary explained all of my options clearly and pointed out the pros and cons of each. I decided to go with a full interior drain tile system and the addition of a sump pump and battery back-up system. Gary and his crew showed up promptly every morning and were polite and courteous. Gary was onsite the entire time working and getting his hands dirty with the rest of the crew. They were able to do the entire job with minimal disruption to the finished basement even though it added extra work for them. They completed the job very efficiently and thoroughly cleaned the basement before they left. I would definitely recommend Atlantic Coast to anyone interested in having their basement waterproofed. Besides their excellent work you can’t beat their unique unconditional lifetime guarantee.
Thanks again, Gary and Crew!

Mr. & Mrs. G. Howell, MI 48843 December 2011

Gary, Thank you for a job well done We appreciate you going above the call of duty by returning to the house, checking the temps, cleaning the kitchen, and overall excellent customer service.
Please have dinner on us.

Mr. & Mrs. H. Oxford, MI 48371 December 2011

In November of 2008 we bought a house in Oxford, Michigan that was in foreclosure. In the spring of 2009 we discovered the house was built in an area with a high water table and water was not only coming into our sump well faster than the system could handle it, but up between the floor and walls as well. We called Atlantic Coast Waterproofing Inc. and they sent Gary’s father out to the house. Mr. Lustig looked at the basement, the sump pump system, discussed my concerns and answered my questions regarding possible sources for the water as well as solutions.
We contracted with Atlantic Coast Waterproofing and the work was started the next day. Gary Lustig and his crew were not only professional but courteous and attentive while working in our home. Each day Gary and his team arrived in the morning and worked through the day breaking up the concrete and hauling the materials in and out of the basement by hand, and cleaning up before they left for the day. Gary and his crew acted more like guests in our home than workers.
The job was completed and Gary and his crew cleared out. A day or two later we noticed that there was still water coming in under the shower stall in the basement bathroom as well as through some stress cracks in the basement floor. We called Gary and he came out and looked at the basement. After determining that there was an issue with the shower pad, which was fixed by one of Gary’s crew, Gary brought back his crew and put in another drainage line which alleviated the problem.
Since the job was finished the only time we have had to call Gary was due to a pump failure. There has never been a time when we called Atlantic Coast Waterproofing, or Gary’s cell phone, that the call has not been answered, or returned promptly, to address our questions or problems. Each time Gary was prompt and professional while dealing with the issues.
We are happy to say that even with near record breaking rain fall, 14 inches in two months this spring, our basement is dry. The piece of mind knowing that with record snow melts, extreme rainfall, and a high water table our basement is dry and well worth the money spent with Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.
We would recommend Gary Lustig and Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to anyone who has an issue with water in their basement and is seeking a solution.
Sincerely,
Mr. & Mrs. H.

Mrs. S. Swartz Creek, MI 48473 September 2011

A crack in the basement wall, lead us to Atlantic Coast Waterproofing on Angie’s List.  The initial meeting with Gary Lustig was very informative.  After he inspected the basement and the outside of the house, he drew and explained the problems in detail, what needed our attention, and the options that he could offer.  He showed us pictures from past jobs to help us visualize and understand each option that he was explaining.

We decided to have the basement wall crack fixed, install a submersible pump, a partial drainage system, and a drywell.   The drainage system along one side of the house will take care of inside mold.  The drywell will give drainage to the downspout, sump pump and drainage system.  Two existing downspouts along and under the deck were extended.  The rear and the other side of the house were re-graded to keep the water away from the house.

Gary explained things clearly and kept us informed throughout the process. The crew (including Gary) worked hard completing the job. They were done in three days and cleaned up completely.   You know the saying, “Leave things better than when you came”?  That was just what they did!

One crack in the basement wall lead us to be proactive about other issues we were not aware of, thus protecting our home from further damage.  Thank you to Atlantic Coast, Gary Lustig, and the work crew.   We are extremely pleased with the response time, the professionalism of the crew, the work completed, and the price.  We would defiantly refer Atlantic Coast and would not hesitate to call upon them in the future.

Mr. G. Swartz Creek, MI 48473 April 2011

In the United States Marine Corps, the best you can be at your job is “Outstanding” and Atlantic Coast Waterproofing is easily that! I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a long-term fix for any and all kind of basement waterproofing issues!
In March of 2011 I noticed I had a weeping wall in the south west corner of my basement, when I removed the paneling we discovered we had a much bigger problem. My house was built in the late 1950’s and whatever waterproofing had been done then had deteriorated to the point where there was a very costly fix coming down the road if something wasn’t done very soon.
Gary Lustig came on a Friday afternoon and did a complimentary check of both the inside and outside of the basement and then explained exactly what was wrong and what it would take to fix it, all in plain English – NO HYPE – just straight talk. He had his crew of 5 at my house the next Monday and they worked their tails off until the job was done on the following Wednesday (2 & a half days).
If you have any kind of construction business, this is the kind of crew that anyone would be proud to have working for them. They went out of their way to keep the dust down and the mess that they were going to have to make to do the job under control, even to the point of putting runners down as they dug out an 18inch wide by 18inch deep trench all the way around the basement. Atlantic Coast Waterproofing has a method that leaves connectors from the foundation to the floor so the structure of the house is never in jeopardy. They tunnel under these and can then maintain the fall needed for the drainage pipe all the way around to the sump pump.
Now, keep in mind, this is a basement with stairs and everything that were removed in the excavation phase as well as all the material needed to rebuild the drainage system was carried in or out in 5 gallon buckets by Gary and his very polite, professional and experienced crew. This type of work is the definition of “bull work” and very labor intensive. However, I never once heard any grumbling or complaining from anyone. Gary asked me to come and check out how things were progressing and what they had discovered several times, always explaining how they were going about doing the job. He recommended a couple of changes which made perfect sense to me and the asking before doing is a great testimony to Gary’s professionalism and personal integrity.
Atlantic Coast Waterproofing has a 100% unconditional lifetime guarantee and from the quality of the workmanship as well as the process they use, I can understand how it can be given with complete confidence.
In a nutshell, I trust Gary’s word, and for me, that is saying something – just ask my friends how often they have heard me say anything like that.
The coffee is always on and you are always welcome – Semper Fi!!!

Mr. & Mrs. D. Huntington Woods, MI 48070 March 2011

I wanted to take a moment to thank Atlantic Coast Waterproofing for the job well done waterproofing my basement. I have owned this home for six years, and have had moisture problems each spring consistently. Though manageable, it has been a constant challenge during the rainy season, and it has been a lurking barrier to selling the home in the future.
I was particularly impressed by the way the ACW crew respected the property, taking care to keep the finished area of my basement as clean as possible during the job. During the job, ACW ran into unexpected problems that nearly doubled their estimated time on the job. ACW stood by their original contract, adding labour and materials to see that the job was done right. They clearly placed customer satisfaction over their own interests. I can immediately see the results of the installation. Less than 48 hours later, the constant dampness is rapidly being removed from the affected basement walls. I look forward to a dry basement for the duration that I am in the home, and the ability to confidently sell my home in the future.
I would recommend ACW without reservation to address any waterproofing concerns for your home.

Mr. & Mrs. C. Mount Morris, MI 48458 February 2011

Atlantic Coast Waterproofing was probably the best choice for us when it came to waterproofing our basement. We looked around and received quotes from many different companies. Atlantic Coast did not give us the absolute cheapest quote, but gave us the best quote for the service they provided. When Gary came over to look at our basement, he had the most know-how of the problems we were having than any other company. He explained what was happening to our basement in a very understanding way and showed us the heart of the problem. When they came over, they were very professional and kept the house extremely neat and clean. They worked through the day and when I came home from work, they were nearly done. Even though we were only fixing half of our basement, Atlantic Coast scheduled and finished the job within days of when we received the quote. However, the part of this company that sold us above everything else, and the reason we are still unbelievably satisfied, is that there wasn’t any fine print. Everything was spelled out for us and they didn’t add any limitations that were tied in through the warranty. They promised to remove the mold in the basement, for the parts they fixed, and guaranteed that it would not be back, and if it did come back they would take care of it. Our basement smells clean and is mold free and I can sleep soundly knowing that we will never have to deal with this issue again. I would definitely recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to anyone who is dealing with basement leakage.
They have the best product we’ve seen and we are very satisfied with their work.
Mr. & Mrs. C.

Ms. M. Flint, MI 48507 June 2011

My mother is 97 and her basement leaks in several places due to poor up keep .Now it was flooding weekly.  She had mold.  I got estimates from  4 companies from $4 thousand to paint waterproofing on walls to $6640 to remove concrete from the edges of the basement floor, install a perimeter drain guard system and gravel in the floor and replace concrete. Since I live with my mother and am a senior citizen  myself I was somewhat wary of sales pitches that promise everything thinking I was a rube.
Atlantic Coast Waterproofing Inc. was the 4th estimate. The salesman was slightly hard sell but we are both old school so I understood that. A new sump pump was needed, there had been a garbage can with a sump pump inside previously.
I had an entire wall of floor to ceiling shelves that had to be removed to dig along the wall. I was promised not only that the wood would be torn out but the moldy wood would be hauled away and the mold sprayed. All things in the way (old tables etc) would be moved out of the way and covered with plastic. After construction floors would be cleaned. All work guaranteed.
Member Comments:
The work was finished yesterday and I could not be any happier with my results. There were extra expenses since no maintenance had been done in about 50 yrs, so that was expected. The sump pump had been incorrectly draining. That was fixed. The crack on one wall was repaired with FRP board and a space to under the split level was fixed so no more leaking from under the main part of the house.. The workmen found leaks in so many places no wonder it was flooding! All were repaired. The concrete rubbish from the basement was removed a bucket at a time by hand and the workmen in turn took all gravel to the basement by hand even though it was very hot and humid, they never slowed down. The cupboards had been removed and wood taken away as promised. Moldy drywall removed. . All brought up to code. It rained buckets yesterday and my basement was dry as a bone!
As work progressed I was kept up to date on every new discovery as we opened the can of worms that are this basement. The staff was polite an thoroughly neat and clean.   Gary Lustig, the owners son, was in charge of the work., I could not recommend him more highly. He had a wide range of problems in an basement that was desperate for maintenance and solved them swiftly  and skillfully. I would call him an old fashion craftsman rather than a repairman, taking pride in his work.
As we got further into problems (wiring not up to code, no flashing around the basement door causing leaks, plumbing problems )Gary referred me to a contractor at DEC General Home improvement Dino Campagna. No maintenance had been done on the main house since the 1960’s so it was also a mess. Presently he is working on my house to bring it up to code.
If you want honest skilled work and a honest days work for your dollar. Hire Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.

Mrs. R. Berkley, MI 48072 October 2010

I would highly recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to anyone and everyone who is looking for a long-term solution to water problems in their basement. I am a very picky and demanding customer, and I believe that this company is, by far, the best in the waterproofing business! Our home is 98 years old and had streams of water that came in with every rain. We had several companies come out to give us an estimate on waterproofing our basement, and Gary from Atlantic Coast was, by far, the most professional and knowledgeable person that we met. He came up with a plan for our home that allowed us to control the water flow and direct it to a sump pump that drains outside the house. Gary’s crew was extremely professional and courteous, and the work that they did in our home was meticulous and exact. As they worked, they kept us updated on the progress, and when they encountered several unforeseen setbacks, they problem-solved on the spot and did so without complaint, even when the job ended up taking a great deal longer than they originally anticipated.
Gary and his crew completed the waterproofing in our basement two years ago. Since then, we have only had one small leak after a torrential rain this past summer. We called Gary, and he came out the very next day and found the source of the leak and fixed it immediately, free of charge. When you hear Gary say that he backs his work with a 100% unconditional guarantee, I can tell you that he is speaking the exact truth. Our basement is now completely dry, and we can rest easy knowing that if a problem ever arises again, Gary and Atlantic Coast will be there to fix it. If you are considering hiring a company to waterproof your basement, look no further. This is a phenomenal company who stands behind their work and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. I recommend them to you enthusiastically and with my highest regards.

I would highly recommend your company to anyone!
All the best,
Ms. R.

Mrs. K. Grandblanc, MI 48439 July 2010

I have had a water problem in my basement for YEARS. I have been trying to “waterproof” and take care of my problem myself. I spent a lot of time, money, and hard work with no positive results. Finally, I smartened up and called you. You promptly came to my home, showed me what my problem was, and gave different options on how to fix it. I was very pleased at how quickly you and your crew came in and got to work. I found you and your crew to be a pleasure to work with, very nice to talk to, and extremely knowledgeable. You were in and out on time and went above and beyond any expectations I had. I wish I would have called you years ago. I would HIGHLY recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to anyone.
I love you all!!!

Dan and Wendy Waterford, MI 48329 June 2010

We wanted to thank you for doing such a great job on our basement waterproofing. We were impressed on how fast you were able to start the project and how fast you got it done! We appreciated the way you illustrated the cause of the problem and how you took the time to stop and explain the different steps of the process along the way. We felt your crew was very professional and liked the way they kept the work areas neat (as possible) and how clean things were when they left. We would definitely recommend Atlantic Coast to our friends and family.

Mr. S. Ypsilanti, MI 48197 June 2010

About four years ago my neighbor hired a crew from a licensed waterproofing company to waterproof his crawl space. I was able to hire the same crew to do the same for my crawl space at a discounted price, but over 2 weekends, “off the company books”. A few weeks ago I noticed moisture on the garage floor, and I thought it had come from the crawl space. I called the waterproofing crew’s leader but he never responded to me. I joined the web site Angie’s List for a recommended contractor to seek out another opinion. I called Atlantic Coast Waterproofing. Gary Lustig came to my house for a no-cost diagnosis of the problem. When he saw the moist garage floor and also examined the adjacent walls and ceiling he said he thought the problem was not a leaky crawl space but rather a leaky chimney. He then examined the outside of my home and went down into the very shallow crawl space. When he finally came up he explained what he had found and showed me a few pictures he had snapped with his cell phone. I appreciated this because I cannot go under my home into the crawl space. The pictures showed the prior waterproofer had dug a 4 inch deep trench in the crawl space around the outer walls, placed (very little) gravel and pipe in the trench and connected the pipe to two sump pumps, which were linked to the sewer line. Gary explained that the prior waterproofer had cut every corner he could. For the system to be effective the trenches around the crawl space walls needed to go down to the base of the footing, which, in the case of my house, was over a foot and a half deep. The pipe in the trench was not closed off with end caps. Bleeder holes were not drilled in the hollow blocks around the crawl space to release the water that was accumulating. The sump pump crocks were not installed properly and were standing 6 inches above the crawl space dirt floor. The sump pumps should not have been connected to the sewer line. The pipes used to connect the sump pumps to the sewer were not properly secured, and were angled in the wrong direction, making for a lot of extra work for the pumps. The system as installed did not protect the foundation walls or the house from ground water and excess moisture. The ground level area of the crawl space was not wet because the 4-inch deep pipes and the sump pumps kept it that way. Gary explained that the 14 or more inches between the base of the footing and the near-surface pipes was wet, with water accumulating in the hollow blocks above the footing. I hired Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to do the job correctly. While Gary estimated that the job would take 4 days, it took 5 days. As I noted above, the crawl space is VERY tight. The clearance from floor to ceiling is approximately 28 inches. I cannot imagine digging into the ground under such constrained conditions. Also, three days into the job we had over 3 inches of rain fall overnight. We have never had this much rain in such a short period of time. The newly dug crawl space trenches were flooded and had to be evacuated. 6A gravel and 4 inch perforated A.D.S. pipe with filter fabric were installed with proper gravity flow of water to two new sump pump systems. The sewer line connections were closed, and the sump pump pipes were run out the side of the house. Bleeder holes were drilled into every cavity of every block at the base of the block wall to release stagnant water that was accumulating. A new vapor barrier was placed over the entire crawl space floor. Gary took pictures as the job progressed and showed them to me. He sent me a disk with the entire collection when the job was done. The completed Atlantic Coast Waterproofing system lowered the ground water level under my home by more than 14 inches compared to the previous system I had installed. The work is backed with an unconditional lifetime guarantee, which is transferable to new home owners. I will recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing to anyone I encounter who has crawl space/basement water problems. From day one Gary Lustig explained things clearly and kept me informed all along the way. The crew (including Gary) worked hard doing a job which nobody I know is willing or able to do. Thank you Gary and crew!!!

Mr. & Mrs. J. Farmington Hills, MI 48334 February 2010

I just wanted to take a few minutes out my very busy schedule to thank you for the tremendous job that you and you crew did with waterproofing our home.
Initially when I called your office to make an appointment for a free estimate for what I thought was a small water problem in the basement, I was sure that the remedy would be a simple and quick one.
After your thorough investigation of a few areas on the lower level, a bigger water issue, mold and mildew were discovered. Of course, the news to excavate parts of the basement floor to install a new water management system in addition to ripping out walls to repair rod holes and install a dura-shield wall barrier system caught us off guard. As it is with any home owner, there are so many other areas in the house where money could be spent. This was one expense we did not count on.
The project was definitely more dusty and time consuming than we could have imagined. This was the type of project that we would never look forward to ever doing again, but now that it is finished, we are so very happy that we had it done. Since the work had to be done, we are happy that it was done by Atlantic Coast Waterproofing, Inc.
Your entire crew made the project bearable for us. We appreciate your careful attention to your work, politeness, honesty, punctuality, cleanliness, and eagerness to educate us, the homeowner, about your work. Thank you.
We were so pleased with your work that we have passed your name and number on to a friend who is dealing with water issues in her home.

Mr. & Mrs. McD. Pontiac, MI 48341 August 2009

I want to thank you for the wonderful waterproofing job your company did on our basement. The system was installed neatly and our basement was cleaned to perfection upon completion of the job. The musty smell was instantly alleviated. You and your crew are truly professionals.
It is not often we write a company. However, the waterproofing system you installed, your professionalism and outstanding customer service is beyond the ordinary in today’s society, and for that you and your company deserves to be congratulated. We have been so impressed with the call back response time and immediate action on your part to fix some minor issues in our basement after the system was installed. We truly do not believe any other waterproofing company would care about a customer as much as Atlantic Coast. After speaking with 2 other companies initially, we are so thankful we chose your company to perform the work. We definitely will be a positive “word of mouth” advertiser for your company.
Please do not hesitate to use us as a reference.
Thank you again for your sincerity and outstanding customer service.

Ms. C. Ferndale, MI 48220 August 2009

Dear ACW,
My house is 63 years old. I had water coming into the basement from the perimeter of all four walls. I spent $1050 to take up the carpeting and dry it out. The water kept coming back. I contacted Atlantic Coast and Gary Lustig came out to look at the damage and gave me a quote. He expalined the problem in detail, explained exactly what they would do, showed me pictures, and explained about how long it would take to dig up the basement perimeter, install new piping and egg rock, put a breathing strip in and re-cement.
The work is guaranteed for life and is transferable to new owners. The Crew of Greg, Jason, Billy, Gary, Dino, Steve and Mark arrived on time, were professional and friendly and began work immediately. They showed me each step of the process and I watched what they did and saw where the water was seeping from. They were done in two days, cleaned up perfectly. Made sure I understood that if I had any problems to call them. I am extremely pleased with the work and the price.
Other companies wanted to dig outside the house around the perimeter. Removing all the shrubbery and plants surrounding the house, then put plastic barrier around the outside walls and fill the dirt back in. This cost was almost three times the amount I paid. I would highly recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing.

Dear ACW,
It was a pleasure to work with your family owned business. Your entire staff was prompt and friendly. Barton could not have been more complimentary. Greg Lustig, the sales representative did a great job of explaining why I was having a leaking basement and what could be done to remedy the situation. Gary Lustig, supervisor, made sure the job was done in the three days as promised. The crew came out on a Saturday to start the project and left the work site clean. I thought I would have to chase someone down to cut off the excess plastic edging against the wall, but Gary came as scheduled two weeks later.
Your company went above the call of duty. Mike and Jose removed and hauled away cement that the previous homeowner left behind. I asked if there was any left over black plastic tubing that I could use for my gutter discharge. The piece I got was the perfect length.
In short, I highly recommend Atlantic Coast Waterproofing! The entire basement is nice and dry. It was a very pleasant experience dealing with a company that is prompt and gets the job done in a timely manner.
Sincerely,
Ms. Y.
